Mail or Wire Fraud – US Code Ch. 63
Both mail and wire fraud are federal crimes. There are numerous situation where either of these charges would apply, and one can be charged with fraud even if the con is unsuccessful. Mail fraud could be charged if there’s any fraudulent act that utilizes USPS or any other interstate delivery service. Wire fraud is charged when another communication method is used for the defendant to contact and try to con their victims—like the internet.
